Top Anime Finishing Moves
Hey, everyone!
Here’s what’s going in the world of Anime today:
Best finishing attacks in anime?!
Level up at Level Up Expo 2024!
Anime characters vs their manga counterparts!
Hunter X Hunter 1999 vs. Hunter X Hunter 2011
Are these the best finishing attacks in Anime?!

@SABA_SHINJI4 created a thread on twitter not long ago discussing what they think are the best finishing moves in Anime. This is a very long thread, so I suggest checking it out! But some of the highlights are Hinokami Kagura (Demon Slayer), Indra Arrow (Naruto) and Crimson Moon (Fire Force).
There was one that got snuck in for people who were really paying attention..

Wait, Itadori?! This meme was a fantastic hidden gem among the otherwise serious thread, so make sure to go find this one. If you’ve seen Jujutsu Kaisen, then you know what SHOULD happen in this scene. The editing is hilarious, definitely go check it out!
Level Up Expo is starting soon! Do you have your tickets?!

Level Up Expo is one of the bigger yearly conventions that is focused around Anime, Gaming, and Cosplay. It’s going on from April 26-28th and will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center! As of writing these tickets are still available starting at $85 for a 3-day pass and $40 for a single day. That might not last much longer, so if you want to go, make sure you snag a ticket!
The list of special guests is massive!

They will be hosting pretty much the full cast of Helluvaboss, Hazbin Hotel, Jujutsu Kaisen, and so many more. The list is so long it’s actually impressive and would take almost this whole newsletter to mention them all by name! And for you Cyberpunk fans that are over 21, they will be hosting afterparties over the weekend called “Afterlife” so you can go down in a blaze of glory!
Anime or Manga? These characters had a major glow-up!

Some characters look a little.. Derpy in manga. And it’s usually not really due to anything but panel size. A lot of times it’s hard to fit so much detail into a small scene on a small panel, especially because most manga artists write the story and draw the entire thing themselves. This can lead to some characters almost always looking kind of odd, which is easily fixed in Anime due to budget and experience.
These characters definitely needed a touch up though!

Sometimes it’s as simple as the lighting, the angle, and proper color. Like in this one with Levi. He doesn’t really look bad in the manga, but changing the angle and giving him some color really helps the scene feel more impactful and makes him look more realistic. It’s crazy how much impact just a few small changes have.
Hunter x Hunter 1999 vs Hunter X Hunter 2011 debate is still making its rounds!
Sourced from Hunter X Hunter 1999
The thing about this debate is that most people agree that both the 1999 and the 2011 series both did a very good job at adapting the manga in a clear and concise way. Sadly, that’s the only thing the fans can agree on most of the time. The major difference is art style.
But is that really what the whole debate is about?
Sourced from Hunter X Hunter 2011
Yes and no. Some people dislike that everything looks “cuter” but others argue that any filler that was in the 1999 adaptation was just as good as the main story and that the creators of that adaptation had a more solid understanding of the characters and what they really stood for. What do you think?
Fun Fact!
Did you know that the 1999 version of Gon was voiced by none other than Junko Takeuchi?! That’s Naruto, if you don’t know who she is. She’s made a major name for herself since the 90s and is pretty much a go to voice actor for young boy leads. She’s amazing at what she does, truly!
