Dan Harmon Tapped to Rewrite One-Punch Man's Live-Action Film Script

Dan Harmon and Heather Anne Campbell

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the live-action adaptation of the popular manga One-Punch Man by ONE and Yūsuke Murata is undergoing a rewrite, led by Dan Harmon of Rick and Morty and Community fame and screenwriter Heather Anne Campbell, known for her work on Rick and Morty as well. This is, hopefully, the last change to the scriptwriters.

Sony Pictures acquired the adaptation rights from Shueisha, initially assigning Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner to the script. Avi and Ari Arad from Arad Productions are producing. Deadline later disclosed that Justin Lin, known for the Fast and Furious series, would direct the film and collaborate on the screenplay rewrite.

One-Punch Man originated as a web manga by ONE in 2012, later redrawn by Murata and published digitally by Viz Media. The anime's first season aired from October to December 2015, with subsequent English dubs and home video releases by Viz Media. The second season debuted in April 2019, with Viz Media securing distribution rights for North America, Latin America, and Oceania, streaming exclusively on Hulu. Crunchyroll handled streaming in other regions.

Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that the highly anticipated One Piece Odyssey game will hit Nintendo Switch consoles on July 26th (July 25th in Japan). The Deluxe Edition of One Piece Odyssey will feature the "Reunion of Memories" DLC, additional outfits, and a new City of Water Outfit Set. The DLC expands on the game's main storyline, inviting players to join the Straw Hat Crew as they return to Memoria, a world filled with cherished memories.

Originally slated for a 2022 release, it was delayed and launched in January 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. Players can immerse themselves in the nostalgic world of Luffy and the Straw Hat crew as they journey through their memories.

Developed by ILCA, the team behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, and produced by Bandai Namco Entertainment, the game features original character/monster designs and an original story by Eiichiro Oda, the mastermind behind the One Piece manga.

Anime and Manga Piracy War Renewed by Hollywood

The battle against anime and manga piracy has been reignited as the Japanese anti-piracy group Coda extends its partnership with the Motion Picture Association of America (MPA) for an additional two years. As reported by TorrentFreak, the Content Overseas Distribution Association (Coda) has prolonged its decade-long alliance with the MPA, focusing on developing new strategies to combat online copyright infringement globally.

Since their initial agreement in 2014, followed by five subsequent renewals, Coda claims significant progress in implementing anti-piracy measures across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Together, they have conducted tens of thousands of crackdowns on piracy, demonstrating a commitment to strengthening joint efforts to protect copyright.

With this renewal, both organizations reaffirm their dedication to curbing piracy and safeguarding the rights of content creators. They aim to continue making strides in the ongoing fight against online copyright infringement worldwide through collaboration and innovative approaches.

Taste Naruto's Ichiraku Ramen in Real Life

Naruto Inspired Décor in Silverlake Ramen Location

Step into the vibrant world of Naruto with the latest collaboration at Silverlake Ramen, a Los Angeles-based restaurant franchise. From March 30th to July 7th, select locations of the ramen joint across the United States are undergoing a Naruto-themed transformation, bringing to life the iconic Ichiraku Ramen from the anime. The collaboration introduces a special themed menu featuring Silverlake's "Classic" Ramen and a Narutomaki Fishcake.

One of the Options Available at Silverlake Ramen Locations

Fans can indulge in the Classic Ramen through two combo options. Combo 1 includes a collaboration headband, while Combo 2 offers a Naruto T-shirt alongside the savory dish. Additionally, hungry fans can satisfy their cravings with Naruto goods and themed tableware available for purchase. Silverlake restaurants in California, Nevada, Georgia, North Carolina, Washington, and Texas are part of this exciting collaboration.

This isn't the first time the anime's famous ramen shop has been recreated in three dimensions. Back in 2014, the now-closed Weekly Shonen Jump theme park, Jump World, featured an exact replica of Ichiraku Ramen in Tokyo, complete with menu items from the show.

Did you know?

Naruto's name is based on the food Narutomaki!

Naruto's name is derived from "narutomaki," a type of topping commonly used in ramen dishes. Narutomaki features a distinctive pink or red spiral pattern in the center, reminiscent of the whirlpools found in the Naruto Strait. These spiral designs symbolize the natural phenomenon and lend the topping its unique visual appeal.
