Disney+ Rolling Out New Password-Sharing Restrictions

Disney+ plans to implement password-sharing restrictions to convert users into paying subscribers, following Netflix's success after doing the same. The rollout begins in summer, with full implementation by September. CEO Bob Iger says the move is necessary to make Disney+ a sustainable business. This initiative comes as Hulu, owned by Disney, ranks second among Gen Z and Millennials for anime streaming, ahead of Prime Video and Crunchyroll but trailing Netflix.

Disney's influence in anime is growing despite criticism of its promotional efforts. Though facing criticism, Disney's strategic moves underscore its commitment to anime and streaming service growth. It continues to acquire popular titles like Bleach, Tokyo Revengers, and Summer Time Rendering, with a Spring 2024 lineup including Mission: Yozakura Family and Akira Toriyama's Sand Land.

The company has not specified exactly when the crackdown will happen in North America, but I will let you know when more details are released.

Anya's past contains a huge James Bond reference.

Anya Forger

During her time as an experimental subject, Anya was designated not by her name but by a test subject number: 007. This number is an obvious nod to James Bond, the iconic fictional secret agent recognized by the code name 007.
