Louisiana is home to many of the most popular events in the Southern United States, most notably is of course Mardi Gras. Every year it’s common to see people not only from all over the U.S., but all over the world to post pictures of New Orleans during Mardi Gras. It’s the home of the soul, and this con brings that soul to cosplay and everything anime!
So what's going down at Wasabi Con 2024?

Cosplay contests, Lip sync battles, meet and greets, and much more! They even have a top of the line maid cafe inspired by a real cafe in Japan! This year, tickets are starting at $25 and can go up depending on how many days, what day, and of course, what you plan on attending. The cafe starts at $24 for entry as well. And don’t forget to meet up with Adam McArthur, Amanda Miller, and Maile Flanagan while you’re there!
Some of the best fight scenes in anime movie history?!

This twitter thread gained a ton of traction with the original post having over half a million views and close to 7k likes! Some people agree and some don’t, but to start off the thread we got Jujutsu Kaisen. This just makes sense, JJK refuses to lose traction and just powers on through with more popularity than any anime pretty much ever. Yuta vs Geto was certainly an amazing fight if you’ve seen it, so this was a given.
We also have a Demon Slayer fight, which did surprise some people.

We’ve covered it before, but Demon Slayer gets quite a bit of hate for very minor things. People started complaining about it and the complaints slowly grew into hate over the course of the series rather good adaptation. Despite this hate, @anit_jp still put Demon Slayer on the list. Do you think Demon Slayer deserves to be on the list of best movie fights? It may have made way more sense if they had used any fight from Mugan Train instead, as the Entertainment District arc was more episodic, only parts of it being in the movie.
Some of the most heroic deaths in anime history?
Sourced from @twt_gojo on Twitter
@twt_gojo made a thread on Twitter similar to the other one we just covered, this time talking about the deaths of anime characters. This one was slightly less popular than the movie one but made the rounds on twitter none-the-less with around 400k views and just over 5k likes. They kind of go hand in hand and really set the tone for last week's posts. Hange definitely belongs here, as her death not only saved everyone trying to get the plane up and going, but also set fire to the entire anime community who was devastated to see her go.
Demon Slayer had a similar thing going for it with Mugan Train, the movie we mentioned in the last topic.

Rengoku and the other Hashira, right before the Mugan Train movie, were all pretty much despised by the anime only fans. I mean, they threatened Tanjiro, tried to kill his sister, and beat them both up pretty badly. Few characters make such a drastic come back as Rengoku did, who, after the events of Mugan Train, became one of the most beloved Demon Slayer characters in the entire anime. People truely mourned his death, and for that, it deserves to be here.
Hange, from Attack on Titan, doubted herself but was never less than heroic.

There was controversy around her death at the time, as it happened so suddenly. This happened twice in Attack on Titan’s history, where the death happened so suddenly that most people felt it was lackluster. Once with Sasha, then with Hange. Hange was a special case, not to dismiss Sasha at all. She spent most of the series studying the Titans and bringing insight into otherwise chaotic and undesirable events.
She brought so much insight, in fact, that she became the Commander of the Survey Corp.

After the untimely but heroic death of Erwin, Hange was chosen as the next commander of the Survey Corp. She served as the leader for quite a while, until the rumbling happened. At that point she pretty much had little choice. Everyone needed to leave and they did not have time to do so. So she completely and blindly sacrificed herself, trying to slow the titans down for even a moment. She died a hero, but she died even more suddenly than the heroes before her. A sign of war, of course, but a sad reminder that any moment could be the last.
Meme Time!

Sasha was also known as “Potato Girl”, which was a nickname given to her all the way back in the first season by fans. She was always eating potatoes to the point that the name stuck for over 10 years as the anime progressed!
